Few days ago, we have reported that the 2010 Volkswagen Golf R will go on sale in Germany at the end of 2009, and will be coming to America sometime next year. Now we got the news that the 2010 Volkswagen Golf R is available at VW dealerships in Germany, pricing at €36,400.
Meanwhile, 2010 VW Scirocco R is priced at €33,475, also available now. The two R model share the same four-cylinder, 2.0-liter, turbocharged TSI engine. The Golf R will receive about 265 horsepower and up to 350 Nm of torque, while the Scirocco R receives about 260 horsepower. Both vehicles are electronically limited to 250 km/h.
Fuel economy has been significantly improved on both models. The Golf R swallows up 8.5 liters of gasoline every 100 km (27.6 mpg) which is 2.2 liters or 21 percent less than its predecessor. As for the Scirocco R, since it is equipped with a DSG transmission, the car achieves a fuel consumption rating of 8 liters/100km (29.4 mpg) while emitting 187 grams of CO2 every kilometer.
Both the two R models have an array of exclusive features that include 17-inch “Mallory” alloy wheels (18-inch optional), roof edge spoilers, R-designed bumpers, high-gloss radiator grill and black diffuser in the rear section. With regards to the interior, sill panel strips show the R Line family resemblance, sport seats in new design “Kyalami” with R Line logo in the headrests, a sport steering wheel, pedal covers and footrest in stainless steel.
