Audi Project Anniversario S5 Quattro Due in 2012

Of course, 100 anniversary is a big thing. We have reported several celebrations that Audi has taken, like the 100th anniversary sculpture, 100 years of Audi package for Europe. Now, we got the news that Audi will release the Audi Project Anniversario S5 Quattro to celebrate Audi’s centennial (2009).

However, due to the industry decline, the Project Anniversario S5 won’t arrive until the following year as a 2012 model. It’s rumored that the vehicle will make its debut sometime around the end of 2010, as a celebration of the original Quattro's 30th anniversary.

In terms of styling, the vehicles will borrow some elements from the old Quattro S1 Rallye. It will be lighter, stronger, and faster. Thanks to the use of light-weight body panels, shorter overhangs (like on the Quattro S1 Rallye) as well as lighter parts for the drivetrain, the new S5 will weigh at about 1400 kg (3086 lbs), shaving about 240 kg off the standard S5.

Under the hood, power may come from a twin-turbo juiced V6 with somewhere around 425 bhp or a variation on the current TT RS's 2.5 liter, turbocharged 5-cylinder, dialed up to about 400 bhp.

Other technical features that will probably be included are Flybrid energy recovery system and a 400bhp version of the TT RS’s five-cylinder turbo.

G-POWER, the famous BMW tuning specialist, has introduced their latest creation - G-POWER X5 Typhoon RS. Earlier this year in March, G-POWER had already released the X5 G-POWER TYPHOON with 386kW (525hp). Obviously, the tuner was not satisfied with that result. Therefore, an upgraded version from the earlier model is here.

The G-POWER X5 Typhoon RS gets a re-engineered 4.8-litre V8 engine, which uses the latest G-Power SK III RS Superchager with a boost pressure of 1.0 bar. The core of the supercharger is the ASA supercharger system which is also used in the Alpina B5S, B6S and B7 models, as well as the B6 GT3 racer. Thanks to this equip, the output will be rated at 460kW (625hp) and a torque of 516 lb-ft (700Nm), a 70 HP increase over the most powerful X5 in BMW’s lineup.

This allows the G-POWER X5 Typhoon RS to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) and 0 - 200km/h (124mph) in 16 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph.

Other upgrades include a steel high-performance exhaust system, racing catalysts and rear mufflers, and a large-volume aluminium charge air cooling system at the front. X5 Typhoon RS is also fitted with Typhoon/G-Power specific accessories, such as a TYPHOON design speedometer, a sports steering wheel and aluminium bits.

Each X5 G-POWER TYPHOON RS can be ordered as a complete automobile or can be refined from an existing customer BMW X5 (E70). The price is not released yet, but it will surely carry a high price tag.
