Has been unveiled in London back in July, the 2010 Jaguar XJ made its official debut in North American at the Pebble Beach Concours, with pricing announced for the first time. The new XJ is available in North American with three level of engine choices. All of them are powered by a version of Jaguar’s new 5.0-liter direct-injection V8 engine. The standard XJ producing 385hp and 380 ft-lbs of torque is priced at $72,500. The extended wheelbase version of the standard XJ, known as the XJL, adds $7,000 to the base model's price, coming in at $79,500. And the top-of-the-line 510-horsepower XJ Supersport starts at $112,000 and adds $3,000 for the extended wheelbase model.
The three choice engine models are XJ Supercharged models, which make 470hp and 424 ft-lbs of torque, will retail for $87,500, also adds $3,000 for the extended wheelbase model.

Anyone who wants to get a 2010 Jaguar XJ can order now. The first delivery is scheduled in early 2010, while Retail sales officially start in December.
Jaguar has announced that they will unveil a unique one off ‘XK-R Goodwood Special’ at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend. The car features a unique Lime Green exterior paint scheme, is described as a one-off to explore the harder side of the XKR's character and allow engineers to explore some performance boundaries. Details are still unclear, however, the Goodwood Special XKR is pegged to have an 'unspecified' power upgrade on top of the standard 2010 XKR's 5.0L supercharged V8. That means more than 503hp (375kW) on tap, likely as much as 550hp (410kW) or more.
Other unique touches include a modified exhaust, 21-inch wheels, and a lowered ride-height.
One lucky attendee will also get a chance to take a ride up the Goodwood hillclimb with Mike Cross, Jaguar's chief engineer, behind the wheel.
Besides showing the special XK, Jaguar will showcase several historic vehicles including the 1957 Le Mans winning long-nose D-type, the first C-type to win Le Mans, and the stillborn XJ13 racer which never saw action due to the company's financial instability. The fastest Jaguar ever - the XF-R Prototype which reaches a stunning top speed of 225.675 mph run at the Bonneville Salt Flats will also be on display.
Jaguar’s famous XF lineup gets a new member - the 2010 XF Supercharged sedan, which will join the North American market together with the 4.2L and 5.0L naturally aspirated XF and the range-topping XFR super-saloon . Jaguar has also released U.S. pricing information for its XF lineup. The new XF Supercharged comes with from its 5.0-liter AJ-V8 Gen III engine pumping out a 470hp (351kW) and 424lb-ft (574Nm) of torque - a 12% increase in power over the 4.2L 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged. Actually, the 5.0-liter supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III engine is not strange, which was debuted at this year's Detroit Auto Show, but had only been planned in naturally aspirated form for the 2010 XF.
However, it’s not just about more power. "The Jaguar XF Supercharged will offer consumers a compelling luxury sedan choice with benchmark handling ability and truly memorable performance," said Jaguar Managing Director Mike O'Driscoll. Indeed, the new XF Supercharged also gets Jaguar’s latest ‘Adaptive Dynamics’ variable suspension damping system and the ‘Active Differential Control’ electronically controlled rear differential as standard.
The end result is a 0-60mph time of 4.9 seconds – just 0.2 seconds off the pace of the 510hp (380kW) XFR.
Other features include uprated ventilated disc brakes, painted calipers, quad-tailpipes, and 20-inch, five triple-spoke alloy wheels. Rich Oak veneer trim is available on the 2010 XF Supercharged only, which also features twin needle upholstery stitching, premium headliner, heated steering wheel, and a 440-Watt Bowers & Wilkens surround sound system with HD radio.
Sales of the 2010 Jaguar XF Supercharged will begin in October 2009. And it will be priced from $68,000. As for the rest of the lineup, the 300hp (225kW) 4.2L naturally aspirated XF is priced from $52,000, the 385hp (287kW) 5.0L naturally aspirated XF Premium at $57,000 and the aforementioned XFR at $80,000.
Incidentally, there is one other XF variant, the XF Diesel S. This super frugal sedan is limited to European markets and is powered by a 3.0L commonrail turbodiesel returning 34.5mpg (6.8L/100km) in fuel economy. It will not be available in the U.S..
We've all seen the odd supercar in police livery, but it's another thing entirely when the police are actually considering buying fleets of one of the market's highest-rated luxury vehicles. That's exactly what’s happening in the UK as Jaguar has just released a high-performance police pursuit version of its popular XF saloon. Based on the standard XF diesel S model, which isn't sold in the U.S., the Police pursuit XF gets the usual visual upgrades - lights, paintwork, upgraded electronics - while keeping the standard 3.0L V6 diesel engine rated at 271hp (202kW) and 440lb-ft (595Nm) of torque. "Police forces are looking for vehicles that represent value for money, have good environmental credentials and deliver the power and performance required of a pursuit vehicle," said Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director for Jaguar Cars.
The Police-spec Jaguar XF manages a thrifty 35mpg (US) and emissions of 179g CO2 per kilometer. But it's also got to be quick, or the baddies will get away, right?
"We hope that with this amount of torque on tap – and a 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds, we will meet and exceed the exacting standards of any Police Officer driving this car." said Cousins.
Right now there are no confirmed plans of any force to purchase the car, but it is being evaluated all over the UK. Retail pricing in the UK starts at £36,900 ($58,925) for the Jaguar XF Diesel S, but the pricing of the Police model hasn't been anounced.
Jaguar is taking a big step and consequently a big risk with the upcoming XJ grand luxury saloon. Now Jaguar is only months away from revealing its next-generation XJ saloon, which is scheduled to debut on July 9th at a special presentation in London before going on sale by the end of the year. Speaking at the Shanghai Motor Show last month, Jaguar Mike O'Driscoll released some new details about the upcoming flagship, including an official teaser, and now we have new spy shots of the upcoming saloon. Interestingly, Jaguar has attempted to disguise the prototype as a BMW, even adopting the same psychedelic camouflage material as its German rival. Despite the attempted trickery, this latest prototype is the most revealing yet, clearing showcasing the new profile of the car and a few styling details.
The new XJ will be the first model to feature the next-generation of Jaguar's aerospace-inspired aluminum body architecture, and it will be available with the carmaker’s latest 3.0L V6 turbodiesel and 510hp 5.0L supercharged petrol V8. A plug-in hybrid variant is also rumored to be launched one year after the regular model, though no confirmation has been made on this yet.
As indicated by the previous teaser, Jaguar designers have focused on alleviating many of the current XJ’s criticisms – namely the outdated styling and lack of engine options. One insider who had seen concept sketches for the car described it as looking like the C-XF’s features had been draped over an Aston Martin Rapide.
Previous spy shots revealed that the headlights will likely share some traits of the company's highly regarded XF sedan, though the rear could get fully-modern LED units of a unique design, possibly sharing hints of the Bentley Continental GT Flying Spur – one of the cars Jaguar would eventually like to rival with its new XJ.
High-tech features inside are said to include pressure sensing buttons, combined with backlit glass panels and the retracting transmission selector knob used in the XF.
Jaguar will start accepting orders for the new XJ in July with the first deliveries scheduled to begin early next year.
